Matthew Lundgren will be joining us at Hope in a House of Blues at Lake Forest Church on Sunday, October 18.
Lundgren is a professional musician who has just released his debut CD, IN HIS NAME. At the age of twenty-four he has already toured extensively in the U.S., Canada, and Europe with several groups of many genres of music in addition to touring as a solo artist. He is an accomplished artist on tenor, soprano, alto saxophones, clarinet, flute, piano, and guitar, many of which can be heard on IN HIS NAME.
Matthew Lundgren began his musical pursuits on the clarinet at the age of eight. Two years later he was introduced to the saxophone and quickly began his work as an improvisational soloist, adding many other instruments along the way. He began winning awards as an outstanding soloist as early as 1985 at the age of ten. At the age of fifteen he began playing in jazz clubs and has continued playing professionally in jazz clubs ever since. He has played with jazz greats such as Chris Vadala, Brad Mehldau, John LaBarbara, Joel Frahm, Jimmy Green, and Johan Stengard. He has also performed with Christian artists such as Darlene Zchech, Tommy Walker, Don Moen, Alvin Slaughter, and Israel Houghton. Matthew is currently serving as the postmodern worship leader at Willow Creek Community Church outside of Chicago, Illinois.
